Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft

Online Courses

An award-winning museum set at the heart of the South Downs National Park

Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft holds an internationally important collection of work by the artists and craftspeople who were drawn to the village in the early 20th Century, including the typographer and sculptor Eric Gill, designer of the London Underground font Edward Johnston, and weaver and natural dyer Ethel Mairet.

DMAC quality workshops, from the

comfort of your home

Led by exceptional artists and craftspeople, our online courses are arranged into chapters, allowing you to complete the course at your own pace.

As with our in-person workshops, the courses are strongly linked to our collection, and participants can enjoy incredible detail thanks to a dual camera set up and overhead shots.

Achieve something special

All courses are accessed through online platform Teachable, which offers you flexible access to all the workshop content for six weeks from your first log in.

Most courses also include a materials pack, containing everything you need to complete the workshop. These are posted out once you have purchased a course.

Is this workshop the right skill level for me?

All workshops have been designed for beginners with little or no experience.

How long will I have access to my course?

You will have access to course videos for six weeks from your first log in.

Do the course films have subtitles?

Yes. Subtitles can be generated if you need them on all videos.

How do I access my course?

You will receive your login details by email, and you will receive your materials pack within a week of ordering.

Can I buy the workshop without the materials pack?

No, the materials pack contains everything you need to get going. The only exception is the Uncial Calligraphy course (no materials option). You will need to source materials for this course yourself, a full list is provided within the course.

What computer set-up will I need to take part in a workshop?

You can purchase and watch this workshop on all computers and devices with an internet connection and a modern internet browser. You will need an email account to sign up for a course and an up-to-date web browser. Some of the workshop resources come as PDF files, which will require a PDF viewer such as Adobe Reader.

What do I do if I experience technical issues?

If you have checked the technical requirements above and are using a suitable browser but the problem persists, email [email protected] with the details of your problem (including a screenshot) for advice.

Can I buy an online course as a gift for someone?

We do not yet offer this function, but hope to soon.

Can I buy this workshop on behalf of a group?

No. The workshop has been designed as a one-to-one lesson. You are given access to a course via a designated email address.

I’ve lost my login details, what do I do?

If you have deleted your login information please contact [email protected].

Can I do this workshop if I live overseas?

We currently do not post materials packs outside the UK, however the Introduction to Uncial Calligraphy with Ewan Clayton (without materials pack) gives the option for the student to source the materials themselves, and is therefore available globally.

When should I expect to receive my materials kit?

Orders are dispatched once a week. Depending on your purchase date you should receive your materials pack within 2-7 days. Packs are posted to the address given as the billing address when you booked.

What do I do if I haven’t received my materials pack or it is missing an item?

Please contact [email protected] if you have not received your craft box or it is missing items. If the original delivery is failed or refused and returned to the museum, you will be responsible for paying any additional charges for re-delivery.
